Your exhaust system facilitates both the flow and treatment of diesel emissions. At Impulse Repairs, we offer a wide array of services for exhaust systems. With offerings ranging from basic maintenance to complex aftertreatment component repair, you can count on Impulse Repairs to have your back.
Contact UsYour exhaust system facilitates the treatment and flow of diesel emissions using a complex tubing system. Aftertreatment components like your DPF, DOC, and SCR Catalyst are directly integrated into this tubing, meaning all of the exhaust that travels through your exhaust tubing will enter these aftertreatment components.
Your SCR catalyst and DOC are designed to take harmful emissions like carbon monoxide and NOx and break them down into their most basic components. This renders them harmless and minimizes their effect on our natural environment. Both components may get clogged over time if enough soot gets past your DPF, but a Check Engine light or MIL will likely appear before it becomes a major issue. Be sure to bring your truck in for service right away if these lights appear on your dashboard.
Your DPF captures soot before it can enter our atmosphere. Unlike your SCR and DOC, your DPF isn’t converting anything, but rather, storing it. As such, your DPF will need regular regeneration services due to its finite storage capacity. Depending on the type of DPF your truck has, you may have an auto regeneration feature. However, older models may need to be cleaned manually. In the case of auto regeneration failure, our mechanics can override your DPF sensors and force regeneration to occur.
Exhaust leaks increase the risk of harmful emissions entering your passenger compartment. Diesel emissions are potential carcinogens and, as such, exhaust leaks should be dealt with immediately to avoid negative health impacts.
